Upcoming Events

The annual Bakam Off-road Biathlon is back again this year. This is a promising event held in May in conjunction with the Miri Mayfest 2010...another year of fun means another year of challenge!
The annual Bakam Challenge has been one of the most challenging events in Borneo over the past 10 years, 2009 marked its 10th anniversary. This year the Bakam Challenge is looking forward to another year of pain, struggle, determination and competitiveness from competitors of all levels.
Borneo is known for its tropical rainforest diversity and rough terrain. With the event being held annually in Miri, the terrain has provided the most unexpected challenges for competitors to negotiate. The courses are set differently every year, 30km of mountain biking and 12km of trail running/trekking. More challenges present themselves coping with the high humidity and scorching heat of the tropics. This is a promising event and an unforgettable adventure!

BHB MARCH RIDE: Khao Yai, North Villa Paradise Resort, Thailand

Dates:     March 27th/28th 2010
Hares:    Paul "Klingon" Haines, Carl "Dyke Diver" Rubin, Martijn "The Inseminator" Snepvangers

March's adventure will be in mountains north of Khao Yai, promising to be a real cracker with lots of variety, a nice resort and simply great biking.
The Saturday ride will be about 40Km distance with some challenges but extremely rewarding. Terrain is almost all dirt tracks with some leg-burning ascents and grin-inducing descents. At one point there will be an optional ride-able IronMan climb (different from last year) and a TinPussy route that avoids it. There will be one riverside water stop, with a shortcut home from that point.

Sunday is easy and suitable for all levels of experience. A mix of tarmac, dirt roads, mild hills, and 3Km of some of the sweetest forest single-track in Thailand, used as a XC competition trail but surprisingly nice and gentle.

Accommodation
Main Resort: Villa Paradise has 50 rooms of various styles overlooking the sunset over the Khao Yai Mountains (**depending on altitude/orientation/clouds).  Facilities include a swimming pool, pre-supplied circle area, and an invisible tree you can reverse into when parking your car at night.
